NAIDOC 2022 Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!
This year’s NAIDOC theme Get Up ! Stand Up! Show Up! Regional Economic Solutions Managing Director Leann Wilson and Mal Meninga Director will be getting up standing up and showing up at several events through out the week !
Monday 4 July Leann and Mal are participating at an Ausenco Town Hall event to celebrate and recongnise the stories and contributions made by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples including personal stories.
Tuesday July 5, Leann and Dr Lydia Pitcher will be co hosting the inaugural AFMW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Purple Bush Leaves Medicine Bursaries for First Nation Women in Medicine. This event will also recongnise the achievements of the three 2021 Bursary recipients: Adjunct Professor Sarah McEwan, Dr Tia Gordon, Dr Kerby Siemsen. The night will showcase the importance of story telling and leadership. This event is the culmination of collaboration between Medical Women’s organisation (AFMW and QMWS), the Artist Louise Numina, Sponsors Leann Wilson (Regional Economic Solution) , Mr Colin Saltmere (The Myuma Group), Ochre Health and supporters including NCWQ, and Pia du Pradal.
Wednesday 6 July, Leann and Mal will join McCullough Robertson and the Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art who will be hosting a gallery tour and dinner to mark NAIDOC week and learn through art and story telling of First Nations Peoples. The night will commence with a special tour of the Queensland Art Gallery ‘Get up, ‘Stand up’ exhibition to showcase works by First Nations Queensland Artists. As the guest story tellers, Leann and Mal will share their personal insights, and how their own business is drawing on the strengths of 65,0000 years of First Nation knowledge in re framing contemporary leadership concepts.
