Regional Economics Solutions (RES) Director, Leann Wilson has been selected as one of five members of the Queensland Government’s Reparations Review Panel set up to assess previously ineligible claims under the Government’s Stolen Wages Reparations Scheme.
The Reparations Review Panel will help more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people access the $21 million stolen wages fund by providing previously unsuccessful applicants (due to lack of documentary evidence or records) the opportunity to present verbal testimonies and other evidence to support their claims.
“I am honored to be selected for the Reparations Review Panel and look forward to playing my part in this important new process,” said Leann Wilson.
The panel, which was established in direct response to community feedback from the Stolen Wages Reparations Taskforce benefits from the vast personal and professional experience of its five members from a range of relevant fields including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement, policy, law and economics.
Leann joins Mr David Wragge, Ms Susan Hamilton, Ms Rachel Malthouse and Mr Terry Stedman on the panel which recently held its inaugural meeting.
