With close ties to Bundaberg, Mal Meninga is a proud patron for his South Sea Islander community. Mal, an Australian rugby league legend and former successful coach of the Queensland State of Origin team, resigned his position with the State team in late 2015 to take on the new challenge of coaching the National team. Mal has been honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia, 1994 Australian High Achiever of The Year, and has been inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame as well as the Australian Sports Hall of Fame.
Since retiring from playing rugby league, Mal has transitioned into business where he has enjoyed successful ventures in Australia and the Pacific region. He has also facilitated a range of forums from youth specific settings through to programs pitched at corporates regarding transferable leadership, health, and wellbeing. His well-respected public profile has allowed Mal to attract a critical mass on targeted issues.
