RES business partner Ausenco established an Indigenous Cadetship Program in 2012 with the primary purpose being to support Indigenous employment in Ausenco and Australia. RES team members Leann Wilson, Mal Meninga and Eric Danzi are all involved in the cadetship program and in mentoring the cadets. The program supports Indigenous students entering a Bachelor of Engineering. It includes 12 weeks’ paid vacation employment per year and a bursary of $2,000 per semester contingent on the student maintaining satisfactory academic results.
Ausenco has entered into a Sponsor Agreement with the Indigenous Cadetship Support (ICS) program, which is a Federal initiative of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The program has three male Indigenous cadets studying engineering at university, and is expected to expand in the future to support a female cadet.
